How to report

Emergencies: call

Power or water outages, sewer backups, lift station alarms, water leaks and downed lines.

See the outage map

Check where the power is out and whether your area is already reported.

Not an emergency?

Streetlight or night light out, a wet spot in the road, or a missing meter lid. Reports are dispatched the next working day.

Please call to report outages and emergencies rather than using email, the contact form or Facebook.

Before you call

Confirm the power is out

  1. Check other rooms

If some rooms still have power, a fuse may be blown or a breaker tripped.

  2. Look at your neighbors

If their lights are out too, tell us. It helps us find the extent of the outage.

  3. Call 501-776-5930

Report the outage to the Benton Utilities Electric Department.

Downed power lines

Never touch a downed line or anything touching it. It may still be energized. Never try to move trees off power lines. Call 501-776-5930 and let our crews clear it.

Water and sewer emergencies

Call for a water leak at the meter, a fire hydrant or in the street, a sewer backup or an overflowing manhole. Stay away from sewer overflows; a crew will be dispatched.

While you wait

Coping with a power outage

Our crews work to restore service as quickly as possible. These steps make the wait easier.

Light

Keep flashlights and extra batteries where you can find them in the dark.

Information

A battery-powered radio brings weather reports and emergency news.

Food

Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to keep food cold longer.

Appliances

Turn off large appliances and unplug electronics. Leave one lamp on so you know when power is back.

FAQ

Outage questions

Who do I call when my power is out?

Call 501-776-5930. Emergencies are dispatched 24 hours a day. Check whether your neighbors are also out; it helps us find the extent of the outage.

There is a power line down. What should I do?

Stay away from it and anything touching it, and call 501-776-5930. Downed lines can still be energized.

Who handles tree limbs near power lines?

Benton Utilities maintains the primary lines that run pole to pole. Limbs near the service line from the pole to your house are generally the customer's responsibility, but you can call us to look at any problem.

Do I need to boil my water after a main break?

Not always. If a boil order is required, you will be notified by door hanger, signs in the affected area, or the Benton Utilities Facebook page.

How do I report a streetlight that is out?

Call 501-776-5930 or use the contact form. Non-emergency reports such as a streetlight or night light out are dispatched the first normal working day after they are received.
